The Local Government Unit of Tigbauan, in coordination with the Barangay Officials of Brgy. Namocon conducted a flag-raising ceremony and floral offering at the First Ambush in Southern Iloilo Memorial site to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the First Ambush in the Southern District of Panay last September 2, 2023. This is to honor the heroism and patriotism of the brave soldiers of Tigbauan who ambushed eleven (11) trucks of Japanese soldiers during the Second World War, the majority of whom were killed in Barangay Namocon on September 2, 1942. Further, September 2, 2023, has been declared a Day of Observance in the Municipality of Tigbauan, Iloilo.
