On the 80th anniversary of the historic landing of the 40th Infantry Division, 8th US Army on the beach of Brgy. Parara, LGU Tigbauan held the unveiling of the bas-relief structure at the Panay Landing Memorial followed by the wreath-laying ceremony today, March 18. The bas-relief structure symbolizes the victory not only of the Tigbauanon but of the entire island of Panay. It also represents the unity of the people to achieve freedom. LGU Tigbauan, led by Mayor Virgilio Teruel and Vice Mayor Lugen Ortilano, together with PNP Tigbauan, BFP Tigbauan, PCG Tigbauan, VFP First Iloilo Veterans District Presidents, VFP Sons and Daughters Tigbauan Chapter, Liga ng mga Barangays, Sangguniang Kabataan Federation, Tigbauan APS, Department of Education, APSAT of Columbus, also paid tribute to the heroes through wreath-laying at the Panay Landing Memorial. This activity was followed by the 80th Anniversary of Panay Landing and Victory Day Commemoration Program at Mayor Eugenio Torrento Elementary School (METES).
